May 27th, 2012 - Sunday evening would prove to be an extremely frustrating outing for the team as they again went into battle with a pair of entries at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). In the NeSmith Late Model division forty-six competitors register for battle in the $2,000-to-win, 40 lap event. Eric began his night by qualifying second to Justin McRee to earn the outside-front-row starting spot for the main event alongside McRee. As the race went green Cooley bolted to the lead and he would hold the top spot for the duration of the event on his way to the apparent win. However, in post-race inspection he was disqualified by NeSmith Late Model Series officials after the officials indicated that his tires tested illegal for a chemical alteration.

In regards to the situation, Eric comments, "This is a very disappointing situation for our team. We did not alter any of our tires in any manner. We are sending the tire to an independent testing lap for indepth evaluation of the tire's composition. Once we have those results we will take the appropriate, further actions."

Cooley also participated in the Southern All Stars (SAS) Super Late Model portion of the program, and with forty competitors in action he won the second b-main to lock into the twelfth starting spot for the 50 lap, $5,000-to-win, Governor's Cup. He would battle around mid-pack for much of the event before battling forward to a ninth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results are available at www.SASDirt.com.

In the feature he would fail to advance as he ultimately registered a sixteenth place finish in the final rundown. Full results are available at www.SASDirt.com.

The $2,000-to-win, NeSmith Late Model Series event saw forty-six cars register for battle, and after qualifying seventeenth fastest in qualifications, Eric started third in the first b-main before storming to the win to lock into the eleventh starting spot for the 40 lap finale.
